How families observe it at home
The heart of Chhath is arghya: offerings to the setting sun and the next morning's rising sun, standing in water where possible. Diaspora families gather at lakeshores and rivers, or improvise with tubs on decks; the fasting member keeps nirjala through the final night. Thekua is the essential prasad.
